NEW EMERITUS BOARD MEMBERS

The Emeritus Alumni Association represents the interests and welfare of U of U alumni who have graduated 40 or more years ago. Headed by Elaine Ellertson BS’53, president, the Emeritus Association welcomes four new members:

Elaine Burrows BS’56 MA’81, retired career director of Kearns High School’s Vocational Guidance Department, has received sev-eral professional awards for her service to high school students and innovations in counseling. She received the Huntsman Award for Excellence in Education, which she contributed to the U to establish a scholarship fund for Kearns High School graduates.

Regnal Garff BA’49 JD’55 MSW’56 is a respected member of Utah’s legal community. A consistent advocate for aggressive child protection, Garff was a juvenile-court judge for 27 years before joining the appellate court in 1987, retiring in 1993. He currently serves on the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) board of trustees.

Corrine Paxman Hill BS’52 EdD’80 was a prominent Utah educator for more than 25 years, serving as a teacher and administra-tor in the Salt Lake School District, a principal at Wasatch Elementary, and director of the Utah Education Consortium at the U. Most recently, she served as deputy of education in Gov. Michael Leavitt’s administration.

L. Richard (Dick) Raybould BS’50, a graduate in military science, received his master’s in public administration at the University of Pennsylvania. During a 21-year career in the military, Raybould was stationed in Korea, Japan, Austria, Germany, Vietnam, and the Pentagon. After returning to Salt Lake City, he was employed by the Department of Transportation.
